Construction of road bridge and access roads over the Jeziorka river in Głosków near Warsaw.

In the autumn of 2014 we designed a road bridge over the Jeziorka river in Głosków, a small town near Warsaw. The design turned out to be a challenge, as the bridge had to be located on a curve of the road and in a skew, whereas the vertical formation line from the top and clearance above high water from below defined very little height available for the deck structure. We came up with a 3-span bridge of span lengths 12,5+17+12,5m, based on precast pre-tensioned concrete beams, called T-shape beams. The deck has a separate bicycle lane and a wide pedestrian lane. The river banks are lined and strengthened with a wall of steel sheet piles with concrete cap. The wall has a gap to enable the passage of gas line beneath the river bed.

In addition to designing, we served as Contract Engineer (Site Inspector) for the Investor during the construction process.

Interesting facts

Road surface on the bridge and on access roads is of asphalt concrete mix, whereas district road outside the scope of work is still gravel. It is to be built anew in asphalt in the nearest future

In close proximity to the bridge there is a nature reserve “Biele Chojnowskie”. Because of this, our design had to minimize the negative impact on environment. However, it was still necessary to cut down more than 100 trees!!
