In 2008, in cooperation with the design office Transprojekt Warszawa, we prepared the design of a pedestrian bridge that spans over expressway S-7 in km 414+717. The bridge is a two-span 33.0+30.0=63.0m composite structure, with steel beams and reinforced concrete slab on top of them. Access to the bridge is via sidewalk, which had to be supported by a retaining wall of total length L=40.0m. On the bridge, there is a special lane for disabled people, 1.0m wide, with special rails. The sidewalk and the bridge are illuminated at night by street lamps. The middle support is rigidly connected to beams, on abutments there are neoprene bearings.
The foundation of the middle support is complex: a foundation slab is fixed with steel sheet piles on the circumference. A sheet pile wall was necessary for the construction phase, because traffic had to be maintained for the whole time.
To define a proper line of intersection between the retaining wall and a slope that was curvy in the first place, a 3D model had to be devised.
