Engineering objects on the "North Bridge Route" in Warsaw (TMP)

In the years 2009 and 2010 we prepared detailed designs for several objects located along the "North Bridge Route" in Warsaw. The Contractor was a Polish company Pol-Aqua, the author of the building permit design was a German company Schuessler-Plan. Our scope of work comprised of road viaduct WD-46 and retaining walls SO-41, SO-43, SO-44, SO-45, SO-47.

Road viaduct WD-46

It is a three-span viaduct with separate decks for both directions, with post-tensioned concrete beams. The theoretical span between abutments is 81.0m, the total width for both deck structures is 29.4m. From the west side, the abutment connects to retaining walls SO-44 and SO-45.

Retaining walls SO-44 and SO-45

The walls serve as an elongation of WD-46's wingwalls. Their task is to allow the passage of local roads in close proximity to the main route, eliminating wide slopes in the already crowded city centre. The length of the walls is 64.0m and 100.0m and their maximum height is 4.8m and 8.0m. They are of reinforced , in-situ concrete, divided into segments 8-10m long. The segments are linked with a capping beam on top.

Retaining wall SO-47

This wall separates tramway tracks from the inlet of Myśliborska street into the main TMP's road. The wall was designed and constructed as an in-situ reinforced concrete structure of 160.0m length and max. 5.5m height. The top of the wall has an in-situ cornice with "gaps" that allow a passage for columns of noise barriers.

Retaining wall SO-41

This wall separates the sidewalk and bicycle path from tramway tracks. The wall is in-situ reinforced concrete, 225.0m long and 1.8m high.

Retaining wall SO-43

A shorter wall 20.0m long. It allows a smooth connection between Świderska and Myśliborska streets. In-situ reinforced concrete.

Interesting facts

On the whole North Bridge route, there are 34 engineering objects in total: 1 bridge over the Wisła river, 15 road viaducts and 18 retaining walls.
