Modernization of district road 2816W with construction of a road viaduct over the railway line in Sierzchow.
In 2016 we designed a new viaduct located over the railway line no. 12 Skierniewice-Łuków. The object is a typical structure, made of precast prestressed beams T-18. It has a road surface 7.0m wide and one sidewalk 1,5m wide. The railway line goes inside a very deep excavation, which allowed us to design a vertical line on the existing terrain, with no need for embankments. To avoid further and deeper excavations, we designed abutments as 2-pillar supports. The stability of the ground was ensured by retaining walls of reinforced soil with precast, small, brick-like elements.
Interesting facts
Next to the viaduct there is a crossroad. It is so close, that we had to bend the retaining wall to match the geometry of the road.
