A road viaduct in Skrzeszew

In 2007 we designed a viaduct made of corrugated steel plates. The object is located over an old, decommissioned railway line , approximately 50km north of Warsaw.

The span of steel structure measured in foundation walls is L=13,19m, the total length is B=49,6m. On top of the viaduct there is a road with adjacent sidewalks, 15,8m wide in total.

The main difficulty here was to establish the proper geometry of corrugated steel, because the object’s skew angle had to be aligned with existing roads.

Interesting facts

The angle between road axes is 45 degrees, whereas the object’s skew angle is 50 degrees – the maximal angle allowed for corrugated steel. Because of this, we had to designed slopes with quite an unusual geometry.
